Fossil free electricity sources may be renewable energy sources as well as nuclear power.
Fossil-free electricity production uses no fossil fuels and releases no greenhouse gas emissions.
EKOenergy is an environmental label launched by the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation in 2013, currently used in over 60 countries.
The EKOenergy label confirms that green electricity is produced entirely using renewable sources. Energy production must also meet the strict sustainability criteria of the label.
For every EKOenergy megawatt hour sold, €0.10 is directed to a climate fund. These funds support clean energy projects in developing countries and are also allocated to river restoration projects.
