What kind of an electricity contract is the best for students?

Accepted Answer

Students' finances are usually a bit tighter – affordability and price stability are therefore essential. Don't skip your actvities for cheaper hours of spot electricity, order a fixed-term and fixed-price electricity contract from us! As a student you also get -50 % on basic fees for the whole contract term.

The prices of fixed-term, fixed-price contracts do not change. If you move, your contract terminates and you can easily order a new one online.

No, in a fixed-price and fixed-term electricity contract the energy price stays the same throughout the contract period.

What if I move during the contract validity term?

What happens when a fixed-term contract expires?

Accepted Answer

After the end of the term, your contract will continue as a “valid until further notice” type of contract. If you wish, you can change your contract with a 14-day notice period.

In case the terms of the contract change, we'll notify you a month in advance.

What’s the difference between electricity transfer and electricity sales?

Accepted Answer

Hehku is an electricity retailer and our bill concerns only electricity consumption. Your energy supplier (=energy company, energy retailer) charges you for the electricity you consume per kilowatt hour (kWh).

The local electricity transfer company charges for electricity transfer separately. Unlike your energy supplier, you cannot choose your transfer company. It depends on the location of your address.

Sähkön alkuperätakuu on sähköinen asiakirja, jolla sähkönmyyjä todentaa myymänsä sähkön alkuperän. Jos sähköyhtiö myy uusiutuvaa energiaa tai ydinvoimaa, sen tulee hankkia vastaava määrä uusiutuvan energian tai ydinvoiman alkuperätakuita.

Vihreä sähkö on uusiutuvilla energialähteillä tuotettua energiaa. Tällaisia energialähteitä ovat esimerkiksi tuulivoima, vesivoima ja aurinkovoima.

Kun sähköyhtiö myy kuluttajalle vihreää sähköä, pitää sen hankkia alkuperätakuita, joilla todennetaan sähkön uusiutuva alkuperä.

Vihreä sähkö ei ole suojattu tuotemerkki tai sertifikaatti, eli sähköyhtiö on itse vastuussa hankkimastaan uusiutuvasta energiasta.

Miten säästää sähköä kerrostalossa?

Kerrostalossa sähkönsäästömahdollisuudet ovat pienemmät. Yleensä kotona lämmitys haukkaa suurimman osan energiasta, mutta kerrostalossa lämmitykseen ei voi vaikuttaa samalla tavalla kuin omakotitalossa.

Kerrostaloasunnossa omaan sähkölaskuun on helpointa vaikuttaa pienentämällä lattialämmitystä ja vähentämällä saunomista, jos tällaiset mukavuudet löytyvät asunnosta.

Uunissa kannattaa tehdä kerralla isompi satsi ruokaa ja siten vähentää sen käyttökertoja. Samoin pesukoneella kannattaa pestä vain täysiä koneellisia. Muut säästöt tulevat pienistä asioista, kuten led-lamppujen käytöstä, valmiustilassa olevien laitteiden sammuttamisesta ja paljon sähköä kuluttavan viihde-elektroniikan käytön vähentämisestä.

Toki yleisesti kerrostalossakin pätevät samat vinkit kuin omakotitalossa: pidä maltillinen sisälämpötila ja säästä lämmintä vettä. Vaikka tämä säästö ei näkyisi suoraan omalla sähkölaskulla, säästävät nämä toimet kuitenkin energiaa.
